Removal ProcedureRelease the park brake.Raise and support the vehicle. Refer toLifting and Jacking the Vehicle.Remove the park brake equalizerlocknut-(1).
Using theJ-37043Parking Brake Cable Release Tool, release the park brake cable from the park brake cablebracket-(1)-by compressing the locking tabson the cable conduit-(2).Remove the park brake cable from the bracket and theequalizer.
Remove the park brake cable bracketbolt-(1)-from the vehicle underbody.
Remove the park brake cable bracketbolt-(1)-andnut-(2)-from the lower trailing arm.
Disconnect the park brake cableeyelet-(1)-from the park brakeactuator.Using theJ-37043Parking Brake Cable Release Tool, remove the parking brakecable-(2)-from the park brake cablebracket.Remove the park brake cable from the cablebracket-(2).Installation Procedure
Connect the park brake cableeyelet-(1)-to the park brake actuator.Install the parking brake cable-(2)-tothe park brake cable bracket.Ensure the locking tabs on the cable conduit are fullyengaged to the cable bracket.
Caution:Refer toFastener Caution.
Install the park brake cable bracketbolt-(1)-andnut-(2)-and tighten to-25-Y(18-lb-ft).Install the park brake cable bracketbolt-(1)-to the vehicle underbody and tightento-25-Y(18-lb-ft).Install the park brake cable to the park brake cablebracket-(1).Ensure the locking tabs on the cableconduit-(2)-are fully engaged to the parkbrake cable bracket.Install the park brake cable to the equalizer.
Loosely install the park brake equalizerlocknut-(1).Adjust the park brake. Refer toParking Brake Adjustment.
Malfunction Indicator Lamp
This light is part of the vehicle's
emission control on-board
diagnostic system. If this light is on
while the engine is running, a
malfunction has been detected and
the vehicle may require service. The
light should come on to show that it
is working when the ignition is in
Service Mode. See ...
