Note:Please read the following instructions carefully before mounting the wheels on thevehicle.
Labels
Your application may require a new tire inflation pressure and mass label. This labelis provided as a guide for tire inflation pressures, and information for vehicle masscalculation. After installing the recommended TPC Spec (Tire Performance CriteriaSpecification) tires, please place the label on the vehicle. The new tire label shouldbe located within the red box, over the top of the original tire label found on thedoor jam. Tolocate the label within the red box use the upper and left hand edge of red line asa guide. When properly placed the new tire label will obscure the original tire information.GM recommends that the surface that the label is to be applied to be cleaned witha suitable solvent (50% iso-propyl alcohol, FS 1062 hi-flash naptha or equivalent)and dried with a clean cloth. The surface temperature should not be less than 65°F(21°C). Peel theliner from the backside of the label being careful not to touch or contaminate theadhesive by allowing dirt or any foreign material to come in contact with it. Carefullyalign the label to the receiving surface, press firmly and smooth out.
Care/Cleaning
Use soap, hot water and a 100% cotton cloth to clean and polish your new wheels. Ifusing a wheel cleaner, be sure to select one that will not harm the wheel surface.Avoid car washes that use carbide tipped brushes, as these may damage the wheel’sfinish. Periodically clean the backside of the wheel to remove road grime, brake dustand grease. Available from GM: GM Chrome & Wire Wheel Cleaner 1052929.
Tires
Use only GM recommended TPC tires. Please see the latest service bulletin for yourvehicle application at the GM dealer.
Mounting tires to wheels
The tires must be mounted and balanced on the new wheels by a trained service technicianfollowing the recommended procedures. For wheels that have a label indicating “reverserim”, the tire will need to be mounted from the inboard side of the wheel. Specialcare must be taken to not damage the face of the wheel, please consult the operatormanual for the particular tire mounting equipment for any modifications/adjustmentsneeded to mountthe tire on the rim. See the Mounting, Balancing, and Installing of Accessory WheelsAvailable Through GM Accessories Bulletin for additional details 08-03-10-004.
Other hardware
Your vehicle may require additional hardware to enable changing to the GM approvedaccessory wheels and tires. Please seethe latest service bulletin for your vehicleapplication at the GM dealer.
Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) / Air valve (valve stem)
If your vehicle was originally equipped with Tire Pressure Monitoring sensors, onlyGM TPM sensors are to be used in the new wheels. See the Mounting, Balancing, andInstalling of Accessory Wheels Available Through GM Accessories Bulletin for additionaldetails 08-03-10-004.
Center cap
For small, “button” center caps, GM recommends installing the center cap after thetire has been mounted and balanced onto the wheel, but before the assembly is installedonto the vehicle. The preferred method for center cap installation is to push in byhand. As an alternate: use a nonmetallic object to push into place.
Lug nuts
In order to properly install your new aluminum wheels, a special nut is required, which is available through the GM dealer. Use of an incorrect nut could result inpermanent damage to the aluminum wheel.
Mounting to vehicle
Please refer to service specification in the owner’s manual for proper lug nut torquesettings, and tightening sequence. Be sure to check torque after the first 100 miles.
Re-program
For installing plus size wheels, please see the GM dealer to have your vehicle reprogrammedwith the correct calibration(s), including Speedometer, ABS, TPM, Electronic Steering,etc.. The processes for reprogramming must be completed by a trained service technicianfollowing the recommended procedures. Please see the latest service bulletin foryour vehicle application at the GM dealer.
Note:For some upsize applications, the tire pressure on the OE tires may be differentthan what is recommended for the Accessory tires, which can impact the TPM system.
